Streams

The everyday layer: a photo and a sentence, done in a minute.

Most days don't deserve an essay. They deserve a photo and a sentence - and that's the Stream: the collective's running feed of small true things. It's the easiest creating you'll do here, and years later it's often the stream posts that turn out to be treasure.

Posting

Open Stream in the header and tap New post. The composer asks for very little: the words (up to a generous four thousand characters, though one good sentence wins), optional photos - drag them in or click to pick - and who it's visible to.

storyus.life/+yours/$stream - New post
The stream composer open: a text box, a photo drop panel, and a visible-to select
A moment from your day to your people: words, photos if you like, done.
storyus.life/+demos/$stream
The finished stream: a feed of small posts, each a photo and a few words
The outcome: the family's running feed - small, honest, in order.
  • Visible to uses the same privacy ladder as everything else - and the composer remembers your last choice as its default, so your habit becomes the default, not a setting to fight.
  • Posting as: now can be flipped to a different date - catching up on last weekend is allowed; the archive cares about when it happened.
  • Photos you attach join the collective's media library like any other upload - nothing posted to a stream is second-class.
Who can post? Members and up. Guests and circles read the stream (at their privacy rung) but don't write to it - the Stream is the family talking, not a comments section.

Try it now

Post today's small true thing to your own collective's stream - the unremarkable ones are exactly the ones that won't exist anywhere else in ten years. For the feel of a lived-in stream, wander the +demos stream.
